
所谓问答法,就是通过对课文内容的提问,然后利用问题答案的关键词来背诵课文的方法。
与《新概念英语》第一册单课的课文以对话为主不同,第二册新概念英语课文都是篇幅为100-180个单词的短文,所以在背诵上难度要更大。但其实即使如此,也有一些较好的背诵方法,比如说问答法。
因为新概念英语课文侧重的是在复习巩固第一册所学内容的基础上,开始逐步培养学生的阅读和写作能力。为此,作者在第二册的每一篇课文后面都有设计摘要写作(Summary writing)的内容,而这个摘要写作的要求基本都是先针对课文内容来提问,然后要求学生根据课文内容用完整的句子来回答。每个摘要的篇幅要求基本是原文的一半,从50个单词左右到90个单词左右不等,基本是每24课就增加一定的篇幅。
作者设计新概念英语课文摘要写作的本意是要提升学生的基础写作能力,但其实我们可以利用摘要部分的问题来帮助学生较快地背出课文内容;当然,因为是要帮助学生背出课文的每一句话,所以不能仅仅参考摘要部分的问题,而要尽量针对课文的每一句话来设问。下面我们就以第4课为例来说明如何用问答法来背诵课文。先来看看原文的内容:
Lesson 4 An exciting trip
I have just received a letter from my brother, Tim. He is in Australia. He has been there for six months. Tim is an engineer. He is working for a big firm and he has already visited a great number of different places in Australia.
He has just bought an Australian car and has gone to Alice Springs, a small town in the center of Australia. He will soon visit Darwin. From there, he will fly to Perth. My brother has never been abroad before, so he is finding this trip very exciting.
针对课文的每一句话,我们可以如此设问:
1. What have I just received from my brother, Tim?
2. Where is he? How long has he been there?
3. What’s Tim’s job? / What’s Tim? / What does Tim do? Where is he working? HAS he already visited a great number of different places in Australia?
有了这些问题,我们就可以引导学生快速背出课文了,因为学生只要用完整的句子来回答这些问题即可,而且因为学生之前已经跟着老师详细学习过课文,对课文内容已经较为熟悉,所以可以在回答问题时自行把答案进行调整,从而确保与课文内容是完全一致的。
